Oil Filter Housing Gasket

Hi folks,

Had a couple of fault codes on the Z -
P3242 - relating to the Thermostat
P0102 and P0113 - Air Intake Sensor/MAF

Order both parts which are relatively un-expensive. Whilst taking the splash tray, airbox and fan out I've noticed a few issues.. one of which is the belts are cracked but that's easy enough to order a new set and replace.

Howvever, the oil leak is hard to diagnose due to parts of the car attached. Has anyone else have an oil leak in this place? I suspect its the head gasket but wondered on others experience. Oil is only in front of the left (passenger side) engine mount in the square shown and is collecting a small amount in the little grooves - no oil is on the floor of the garage.

Cheers

G

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will know better but I'm thinking it's the oil filter housing gasket. A common source of oil leaks on the front nearside of the block. Easy enough fix if it is this.

Fairly sure that is the Oil Filter Housing gasket leaking. My engine block looked just like that before I replaced it. Straight forward job but alternator has to be removed also so you may as well change that serpentine belt whilst you're at it....it's well past its sell by date ! :o

You might want to grab a can or two of engine degreaser as well. Did the oil filter housing gasket and rocket cover gasket on mine when I got it last year. Was nice to clean everything up so you know what's what afterwards. Makes finding any other leaks easier.

Now lots more parts of the car are off, it’s quite evident it’s the housing gasket.

Had a nice issue with the Thermostat where the bolt has sheered off as soon as the socket touched it. Hoping if I remove the others I can get the old thermostat off with a little force and then get some pliers around the bolt to get it out..
Also the MAF Sensor I ordered isn’t the right size so that has to go back.

So, all in all, unsuccessful day. I’m going to move it to my parents garage and spend a couple of sundays there drinking their tea.
