Oil extractor

Bought an electric oil extractor pump today as it was in Lidl for £13 I thought I would give it a go.

Can’t seem to get it to the bottom of the sump? Anyone else used one successfully?

Dipstick hole

Has a look at diagrams of the sump, I’m wondering if 6mm tube is just a bit too fat to fit through something lower down the dipstick hole

It’s ok all sorted. Measured the tube v dipstick and I’m hitting the bottom of the sump, after reading the instructions the oil must be warmed up for the pump To be able to suck it up.

Theyre crap, slow and noisy.
I took it back with that description and got a refund and bought a PELA pump ftw.

Just tried it on my other car that had hot oil in in and it pumps just fine.
I’ll be due an oil change on the z4 next month so I’ll see how it goes.

With a warm engine it took 6 minutes to suck the oil out, I did remove the sump plug after I extracted the oil just to see if it got it all and the result was positive, a small trickle that turned to drips so a negligible amount left. I’ll be doing again this way for sure.
