Oil Change

I decided to do an interim oil change the other week (Castrol Edge 10w 60), which I'm pleased to say was pretty straightforward thanks to the guide on here. I was wondering when others do their own oil changes, whether they note this in their service book or not. This won't be replacing any scheduled services obviously, I just wanted to do above and beyond as it's a relatively cheap thing to do and should pay dividends engine wise.

Any advice welcomed.

Cheers

Phil :D

I was under the impression that synthetic oil takes time to bed in, so you could be doing damage by changing too frequently?

News to me. :?

I have a notebook that I record all my diy history in. It's for my own benefit as I don't intend to sell my zed.

I put interims in the service booklet and file the receipts for the oil. If I were a private buyer, this is exactly the kind of thing that would give me confidence that the car had been looked after.

You won't do any damage changing engine oil more frequently, you will do by leaving it to long though :o

say whaaaat?? thats a good one. i change mine yearly or 6k miles. but as others said keep all receipts and notes in a folder for the car for proof in case i sell it. normally its yearly since i put my car up for the 5 month salt season :headbang:

I buy from main dealer
Fit myself and they stamp my book up as bought from them:)
As I do every 3k

I get my local indie to stamp to the book as oil service -oil always come out fairly clean but gives me peace of mind to know its been changed
Got Fuchs titanium fully synth 10/60 plus filter as recommended by Opies for 40 quid incl carraige -arrived next day as promised

I get good deals with Opie too, last time was 2x4 litres of gulf racing 10-60 with a filter for £72.
