OIL CHANGE QUESTIONS

Hello, I'm getting ready to change my oil for the first time and I'm debating whether to do it myself or take it to the dealership. I've been quoted $85.00 by the dealership. I just looked in my manual and it states that it takes just shy of 7 quarts. At $5.00- $6.00 a quart for the Castrol synthetic plus the cost of the filter, I would assume I'll have about $50.00 in supplies. So I can save about $35.00 doing it myself.
They also say their price includes checking out other fluid levels and topping off if needed plus they'll wash the car.

1st question-----(biggest concern) does the computer need to be reset after changing oil so the diagnostics are current? If so, how does one accomplish that or does the dealership have to do that?

2nd question------Is there more than one choice of 5W30 Castrol synthetic oil? If so, does it really matter?

3rd question------Are there any surprises about changing it myself that I need to know about before I get into it?

I've always changed oil in everything else I've ever owned but this car scares me just a little. I get the feeling I'll screw something up! :headbang:

For $85 I'd let the dealer do it.

In the UK you'd be lucky to get the oil alone for that price, and then you've got no dealer stamp, and will have to get the computer somewhere reset anyway.

$85 is a good price for dealer oil change. Other fluid change could just be washer fluids... And I would stay away from dealer car washes (but then I only hand wash myself).
