£93 for an oil change! Think I'll go to National Tyres....£38.16. (5W30 Fully Synthetic). It's all getting a bit silly.

if you can get a full change using castrol edge for 38.16 then thats a steal. keep a straight face and drive away quick :D

I dont know...

Deduct the cost of the Oil, the Oil Filter, and maybe a plug washer. Then the fuel and a hour of your time to run around getting the parts. There's probably £50-60 left in it .

Personally I'd rather pay someone else to do it on their ramps, for £50, than lie on my back and fiddle with seized or rounded off bolts, skin my knuckles and get oil on my floor. I'd rather work a few extra hours doing what i'm good at to earn the same amount of money.

You then also get a dealer stamp and don't end up with the old oil to dispose of ?

I'd be wary of paying £38 as I'd wonder what stuff they're putting in there, but if you can get it done somewhere around £60 or £70, then personally I'd jump at it.

That is too cheap. THe oil and filter costs more than that, unless they are doing it as a loss leader.

Sorry just to elaborate, £38.16 is the cost inc vat and 10% voucher discount for 5 gallons of Castrol or Fuchs, 5W30 Fully synthetic inc filter, disposal etc. Its an all inclusive price where I can observe the work. This is for my 2.0i. The £93 was the quote from an Indy!

No I wont get a dealer stamp but in all honesty, this is a 2008 car with 70K miles on the clock, 3 owners inc me, I'm not going to have a dealer hold me to ransom just for the benefit of a stamp. I intend to keep the car.

In any case, irrespective of how much you pay, the only way you can guarantee what's going in your engine is to rock up with the oil yourself.
