oil change ......no dipstick

I like to do an oil change inbetween long life services. Its really quick and easy using a Vacuum pump to suck all the oil out but this needs a dipstick for the suction tube to enter the engine.

As my facelift doesn't have a dipstick is it possible to go through the filter housing?........highly doubtful but thought i'd ask just in case.

I am assuming I will have to do it the old fashioned way and remove the drain plug which is a pita. I have not been under the zed yet, will it need jacking to get to the plug? If so I would like to put axle stands underneath before crawling around under it (safety first!) Whats the best way of doing this? I have a hydraulic jack, is there a single jacking point at the front so that axle stands can be placed at the sill jacking points?

earlier thread there about front central jacking point... would probably want a jack pad to use that one though, and you may struggle to get a hydraulic jack far enough under unless you can get it on tyre ramps first! :thumbsup:

My 3.0si Coupe (N52B30 engine) has an external oil separator so has a return to the sump underneath the air intake towards the firewall which would probably work... but don't know if this would exist on the 2.5 or on 3.0si that have oil separator integral to the cam cover!?
 
I would just use ramps to get under the car. There is a little access flap for the sump plug so not difficult. My 3.0Si is lowered so a lot of car ramps catch on the front spolier so I made my own just by screwing some lengths of decking together for about £20...

The other great thing about this design is that the car never rolls back so you can go up really steady without hammering the clutch like on normal ramps.
