OEM strut brace for Z4M

Keen to purchase a BMW OEM strut brace for a Z4 MCoupe. I know they're a bit hard to find, but if you know of one that's for sale, would be very keen to hear from you. Send me an email [email protected]. Cheers and many thanks in advance.

Thanks very much srhutch, appreciated. I was led to believe that the E46 M3 strut brace wouldn't fit, so that's very interesting! Is your car a coupe or roadster? Did the brace fit perfectly, ie. all the bolt holes line up and everything fits flush as it should?

Thanks for the reply - I'm not especially mechanically minded, so am unsure what the the implications are of removing camber pins? That seems like an irreversible modification and something that compromise the suspension geometry of the car? Thanks for your help with my understanding regarding this, appreciated.

Is it possible to drill a captive space into the underside of the strut brace end? I'm imagining it wouldn't need to go all the way through the strut brace end and would mean that the pin didn't have to be removed?

bestgun, If i was you I'd go for the m3 unit and don't want to remove the camber pins, simply mimic the o.e piece by using washers to space it up off the suspension turret. I get the allure of the O.E piece which is like a unicorn and costs insane amounts of money now ( not really worth it) but just get the m3 unit, space and don't look back. The O.E piece is also satin chrome, which some either love or hate, its very bling.

Cheers and thanks Beedub for your considered reply, much appreciated. I had been told that the OEM strut braces had minimal clearance under the hood. So I do wonder if spacing it upwards might compromise that clearance? I'd thought it might possible to machine a pocket on the underside of the tower section to accommodate the camber pins. That way the brace would fit flush to the top of the strut. Thoughts?

You'll also need to shave a bit from the strut mount on the m3 brace, this stops it from fowling the bonnet. Think I have pictures somewhere and will post later

If you don’t want to remove the camber pins then just file/cut them down a bit as I did. The camber pins are only there for easy of assembly at the factory.

Post from when I fitted mine

Here's the OEM Z4 strut brace which shows the sections you'll need to file away to stop it fowling the bonnet

Going to be installing an oem one myself soon, will I need to file it down or is that just for the m3 one?

At a breakers, I feel like a lucky boy!

I want to paint it to match the rest of the strut braces and calipers, but is that a sin given it's quite rare?
