OEM Sat Nav upgrade

Earlier this month I started the car the sat nav popped up and fell apart , it now also won’t stay up after putting it back together I think there’s some damage to the mechanism , anyway I only ever used it in the last 10 years to adjust the dsp on aux in

After spending hours on the forum reading posts and looking around the web I have come to the conclusion that I need to keep the carver dsp amp and own head unit getting rid of the screen and go aux in with a new android CarPlay unit. I want to be able to also access the old screen for dsp and on board computer

This unit in the video https://youtu.be/1XTqrzaR5j0 does everything I want it to however they don’t reply to posts it seems looking at guys previous questions does anyone know what this is and where to get it ? Specifically the view where is displays the old screens functionality , very useful for dsp adjustment ! Probably keeps it as oem as possible

Many thanks

interesting video, i have a PX6 android screen setup but it can't do split screen. Guess it depends on spec and supplier. I also have dsp and can be controled via ibus adapter https://shop.ibus-app.de/en/ you have to buy dsp licence as extra.

Are you able to flip between the OEM and the new system using ibus adapter?

How much is licence?

Besides the physical fitment and powering up of small replacement screen to fit inside the OEM nav unit with all original open/close electronics, what else is there to consider? Would disconnecting the OEM nav throw up a load of errors?

There's a conversion business for somebody here, that could make them a lot of money.

No errors with the OEM satnav, during the retrofitting I had that more disconnected than connected

I retrofitted the OEM satnav on two different cars, so 100% OEM only. When I get the next Z, I want to use something like this.

What is your setup Mac?

I had the factory OEM flip sat nav with TV tuner, however i ripped that all out and installed the AVINUSA e83 (X3) 10.25" android screen (PX6 model). Added ibus app / dongle, AVINUSA wireless carplay dongle, have DAB digital radio receiver on top corner of front windscreen and wireless car charger.

the launcher3 software allows ithe skin to be either ID5, ID6, ID7, NBT, EVO themes but i also have idrive launcher 2.0 which sort of allows steering wheel controls to fully work https://idrive.ibus-app.de/index_en.html

Hey Mac

I am interested in installing your setup. I have read your posts but am wondering how to proceed. I have the factory sat/nav but my DSP has not been working for years. My original plan was to go with a carputer and raspberry pi, but now that you have accomplished this I am very interest in coping your setup. Is there a general guide, list of materials or list of any changes you would make if you had to do it again?

thanks in advance...
