As the oem NAV screen is pretty useless in e85 i was thinking on a tablet there. But finding a 6.5" one is near impossible. Also I don't want that huge aftermarket screen from Aliexpress and for sure not to cut anything premanently.
Few days ago the OEM screen split in half and i took it off for repair. And got an idea or two.
1. Searched for 6.5" touchscreen and found this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000991772769.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.48c93c00VnvM9Q&mp=1
It would fit on the place of oem screen perfectly and it would be possible to keep the original electronics in the case so that screen would still fold up and down.
And then Raspberry Pi could be used as there are many software implementations for it already.
2. I was staring at my Amazon Echo 5 as it is almost the perfect size for it. But it would be a nice looking media center/assistant there never going to show GPS or any OBD info from car. With Echo it is going to be tight but i guess the oem board can stay there also.
3. Just order 2019 map update and stick with original.
Anyway now trying to find a broken screen from e83/85/86 to do some experiments.
Has anyone tried to fit raspberry or echo there? There is one German thread about Pi but there OEM screen was kept. What option would you choose?
