OBD Scanners (yes another!)

Hey all,

I know this topic has been asked to death on here, but I wanted some more up to date devices than the search was bringing up.

What are the best OBD2 scanners that can fault find and delete fault codes, but crucially also do coding such as one press window function, roof operation when moving etc.?

It seems loads of OBD scanners can do all the fault finding and clearing fault codes, but then can't do customisation coding. The ones I've found are Carly, Carista and OBDeleven. Are these the only options? I've used Carly before and hate that its a subscription based service now.

Let me know! Thanks!

Get yourself one of these.

It'll do all the things you mention and can also do such things as resetting from Transport Mode, coding in a new LCM, set the headlights as DRLs etc.
Not sure about roof operation when moving but it can code the roof to close on the key as well the more normal open on it.

Ah, I would love one of those as you're right, they are the all bells and whistles version of what I want, but unfortunately... I don't own a laptop! :headbang:

That's why I was looking for an AiO unit with screen or one that can connect to my phone.

Thanks for the suggestion and maybe it'll be a good excuse to buy a laptop :P

Do what I did.
Get a cheap secondhand laptop, clear everything off it and just use it for that.

BMW Scanner 1.4 on a laptop is pretty good, it will reset Transport Mode but it will not delete it you need something better to do that as TM sits in a number of modules and has to be deleted from all of them, something BMW should have done when they sold the car, but its a money spinner for them when someone has a flat battery and it sets itself. Higher end Diagnostic Tablet scanners like Autel and Launch can delete it from all modules and do many other coding functions but your looking at £300 plus for these. Cheaper and popular option is the Creator 310+ or 410 their latest version. It reads all modules and reads live data but although Transport Mode appears in its menu it doesn't function. At circa £50 on ebay or Amazon its a pretty good buy and works on a lot of BMW models.

If you have an Android phone then ProTool is a one stop shop. Currently £160 for the master license but will do pretty much all ISTA will and deep level coding.
