Nurburgring report...

Guys i have just returned from petrolhead heaven...what an awesome weekend we all had. In total there was about 17 cars that went, some veterans and some virgins like me, got there sat afternoon and there was a GT car race on going, good veiwing, this finished at about 5.30pm and we were all straining at the leash to get out on the Ring. We were told the track would open to the public at 6.30 however this did not happen due to damage caused in the race needing repar so off to the 'Pistenklause' bar to get lashed up and fed.

Sunday morning we woke to a damp day  big fat downer we were all hoping for some sun obviously but this didn't stop us and all the other people who turned up in fact it was a big fat plus because it meant all the bikers stayed away. . Finally getting out on the track was awesome but by god i was amazed at the differing inclines, cambers, blind summits etc no amount of video, playstation can prepare you for this place. As the whole day was damp and wet there was an absolute shed load of accidents, one guy in a polish registered EVO 8 came storming past me only to clip the kerb and get a big fat tank slapper which ended up with him side swiping the armco  .

Highlights of the weekend, firstly i paid for a lap in a race prepared Dodge Viper driven by a guy who competes in the porsche cup, this was mind blowing, when i got strapped in he introduced himself and asked if i had an experience of a race car and did i have any fear !!i said no and no :fuelfire: He then asked how i would like him to drive to which i replied 'Drive it like you stole it Marcus !!!' :D , he laughed and said ok we push as hard as we can, my god what an eye opener that was. Also i met my german friend with the 550bhp golf r32, he took me for a lap in that also and jesus how can cars grab the road to be able to throw you down it so fast :!: , A pax lap in an M3 CSL sideways i might add.

we had a truly fab weekend, i have already booked the hotel again for september 6/7/8 so if anyone is up for this trip let me know and i will pass on details.

Here are some pics for you all to enjoy....

Steve is a top guy, i have this lap on video am trying to download now, will post if successful..

Great write up, looks like a blast
However, I still can't believe anyone would go out w/o a brain bucket.

First went in Easter 2006, have since done 6 trips there, and have at least 3 more planned this year :D It's a very addictive place!

September could be a go-er, but it depends on how finances go after the summer... plus there's a Spa trackday in October that I wanted to incorporate into my (likely) last trip of the year....

If you (or anyone else - Mikedav?) are thinking of going, I should be heading over on the following dates, and would be more than happy to help with any arrangements if others wanted to come along:

May 3-6th

June 13-17th

July 25-29th

I am very envious and wish I was going.

Looks like so much fun. I would love to have one of those pros take me for a lap.

I was out in a law enforcement track with an instructor in a cop car and was so much fun.

I can just imagine what this would be like.

Dayuum WaZZZZ - you sure got serious about those emoticons in a hurry :D

I would love to get a chance to drive/ride out on that track. Never a chance to get bored with the pavement with that big a space to play. :crazydude:

Here's the lap in the CSL, and i have spoken to the guy who is ok for it being posted.....

A wet lap ... in a CSL ... on Cups ... driven by Scottish ...

Truly you have no fear!

Awesome lap. I did a wet lap in my old M3 and it was pretty hairy! Much happier in the dry...

I am up for going in May, just waiting to see what I am doing work wise and then will sort a trip. 3-6th sounds good in principal though especially if the weather is good. Where do you stay? Both trips I have been at the Hotel Sonneck in Kelberg, nice people etc but fancy trying something new. Pistenklaus steak is essential though

This is awesome, glad to hear you had such a great time at the ring. My only ring experiences consist of being stumbling around drunk hitting on every girl I saw on the track and rocking out/singing badly to rock music. That is in a nutshell Rock-Am-Ring. I recommend it if you enjoy rock. Campsite B is your friend and has showers (extra 40 Euro though). Anyways, my biggest regret from Germany is not renting some kind of car and going to race on Nurburgring nor even getting a ride around the track from anyone. Next time I'm there though.....it's on :driving:

I agree with the Pistenklause. We stay in the Tiergarten usually (and are there again on the 3rd)... which means its' only about 10m to stumble out of the Pistenklause to your hotel room :D

I think they're full though at the moment, although last time I checked, Ringhaus and Bergstube had places available and they're only 2 minutes walk down the road....
