Thankfully I managed to get in another trip last year. The sale has been on the cards for a while. No mention if the touristic days will no longer be an option though which I think was the main worry for most.
There was a suggestion that touristic days didn't really make the ring money. It was more to do with the business and money it brought to the surrounding area which is why the government had such a big involvement. Unfortunately this involvement was also probably the demise of the ring too, spending a small fortune on an entertainment park and rollarcoaster (that never really ran) which was more like a ghost town and never really took off or made them the money they expected.
