Just thought I would share my Ring photos / experience from last month.
Me and my friends were planning on taking 3 cars and having a passenger each to share the cost of the trip. We originally was planning on taking a Porsche 944, Lotus Elise S2 111R, BMW 135i.
On the day of the trip the BMW 135i had a water pump failure and my Z4 (the back up car) had to be dropped off at the garage too as the suspension as making noises. Luckily my friend offered to drive his Jaguar XF which helped carry all the luggage but didn't go on the track.

We went from Hull on the P&O Mini Cruise ferry via Bruges and stayed in the Wald Hotel in Jammelshofen 5 minutes drive from the Ring and stayed in the Mercure Hotel in Cologne the day afterwards and came home via the euro tunnel.
At the Ring during the 2nd lap in the 944 my friend couldn't select 5th gear and when pulling into the parking area he could only find 3rd and 4th gear! When we got home, my friend discovered that the previous owner of the car had created a home made gear selector which was made from rubbish metal and snapped into two pieces.

My friend rang the RAC up and they toed the 944 away. A few hours past and my friend rang up the garage to check on the progress as we was supposed to be driving to Cologne that night then getting the Euro Tunnel early the next morning but the mechanic said it was a problem inside the gear box and couldn't be fixed in time. In the end my friend picked his car up and drove to Cologne then to the Tunnel and 4 hours through the UK only using 3rd and 4th gear!
Here is a link to the rest of my photos and a few spotted Z4's (saw an English Z4 but it was always leaving the track area and didn't spot the reg in time...)

Trips costs
Wald Hotel, Nurburg £36 each
Mercure Hotel, Cologne £26 each
Ferry / Tunnel £112 each
Fuel (in the Jaguar XF £65 each, my mate set his cruise control to 110mph on the Autobahn and was getting over 50mpg!)
Overall a fun eventful trip, next time I go I would love to have a passenger ride in the M5 ring taxi! They were stupidly fast around the track!
