My new Audi A1 :D

For months I've been considering a small diesel car and had been looking at the Ford Fiesta Zetec S TDCI. The A1 recently caught my eye, and after reading fellow member Navid's post about the one he bought for his wife, http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=30331 I decided to visit Glasgow Audi for a closer look. I wanted the Sport model and a diesel and it had to be white! Fortunately they had an Amalfi white Sport TDI in stock, with the daytona grey roofline and a few nice options like climate control and parking sensors. After a quick test drive and some negotiation on the numbers (thanks to WonderMike  ), I bought it. It's a fantastic car, feels much bigger than it actually is, quality is superb, and the MMI interface is totally intuitive to use. BMW could learn a lesson here... :poke: The diesel engine is fairly refined and it cruises well on the motorway. Plan is to keep the Z4 as more of a weekend toy, use the A1 for commuting and then maybe trade them both for something new in 2-3 years time. At the moment there's nothing I would replace the Z4 with, so its staying put.

Looks very nice mate. Good mini fleet of German hardware you have there. Should see the Zed last nicely. Definitely more interesting than those you were considering

Hi Gordon,

Lovely looking car. The GF has a mini at the minute and is looking to swap towards the end of the year. She wants another mini but im trying to persuade her to go the A1 route.

Good choice mate. Would love to see a few more pics from different angles and the interior! :D

Great car, a big fan, and drive it for 6 months, sell it and get another one and you won't lose much......

Thanks guys  I love it, but just hope I don't fall out with the Zed. :?

John - if I was buying it as my only car, I would go for an S-line, they look stunning. But in my case I wanted the softer ride of the Sport and it was cheaper too! Test drive one, your g/f will love it!

More photos are here, including when it was at the dealers: http://s261.photobucket.com/albums/ii53/iphoto777/A1/ ... camera quality not great...

Nick, you are not wrong! Residual values are crazily high on them, especially the TDI engine. Shouldn't compare to the MINI as its a more grown up and sensible type of car, but I think Audi have got things spot on with them.

looking good :P I said you won't be disappointed (as you know I am biased) and what I really like about A1 is that everybody has a Mini, but these are better specced and more roomy inside

did you say yours had Cruise? EDIT: just looked at your photos, seems you don't have it either, if you want to get it retrofitted, let me know,as I have managed to get a good price from dealer to supply and fit ours.

you can get different set of alloys for it, as 16's don't really do the car justice.

Is that a new shape SLK I see next to yours?

Yes! :P not mine though, it's my neighbours. It's an SLK 200 auto. They got it on 1st Aug, but were meant to get it in June at launch. It looks very angular next to my curvey Zed. :D

Unbiased opinion, would you swap? Cars not wives!!!

When I first saw the Merc in the media I thought it looked amazing. Next to the Zed I wasn't so sure. My neighbours doesn't have the AMG kit and has 17" wheels. IMO it needs bigger wheels and the AMG kit. The other thing... it's only a 4 pot... :? It also does look very square and angular in certain places.. Does this answer your question? :P

Yup....I like the SLK, but I would still have the Z or a Boxster S.....
