My new Audi A1
For months I've been considering a small diesel car and had been looking at the Ford Fiesta Zetec S TDCI. The A1 recently caught my eye, and after reading fellow member Navid's post about the one he bought for his wife, http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=30331 I decided to visit Glasgow Audi for a closer look. I wanted the Sport model and a diesel and it had to be white! Fortunately they had an Amalfi white Sport TDI in stock, with the daytona grey roofline and a few nice options like climate control and parking sensors. After a quick test drive and some negotiation on the numbers (thanks to WonderMike
), I bought it. It's a fantastic car, feels much bigger than it actually is, quality is superb, and the MMI interface is totally intuitive to use. BMW could learn a lesson here...
The diesel engine is fairly refined and it cruises well on the motorway. Plan is to keep the Z4 as more of a weekend toy, use the A1 for commuting and then maybe trade them both for something new in 2-3 years time. At the moment there's nothing I would replace the Z4 with, so its staying put.
