Hi all,
been experiencing a notchy gearbox and 1st and 2nd gear didn't like going into gear all the time and wasn't very smooth.
had my gearbox oil replaced with the MTF-LT3 gear oil and its alot smoother in changing gears now, wow what a difference!

definitely worth changing if you have a notchy gearbox

Reading about and people recommend getting the differential oils changed same time as gear box... is this something I should do and how will it improve my car?

It wouldnt do any harm as far as i am concerned. I think the gearbox and diff oil are supposed to be life long oil. So don't need replacing. But you already know the difference the gearbox oil has made!!!

When I had mine changed for the first time at 80k miles it was still a golden colour compared to the black stuff which came out of the tranny. Definitely smoother shifts after, but didn't notice any difference from the diff- don't really see how you'd tell besides the noise it makes?

Although whilst the car is up on the ramp it's not much bother to do the diff oil too.

Agreed while its up you might as well. The point in my view and i am probably wrong!! The diff has done the same amount of mills as the gearbox. I doubt you would feel any difference. You don't have any contact with a diff. But you know its been done.
