Not sure if its a problem or not...............

....... but I could do with some advice.

Just about to pick up a nice Z4. 6/2003, 2.5i roadster.
Looking to put a few extras on (as you do!!) and was wondering about the following:

Cruise control:
Retro fit seems to be part 65710153114, which has all the parts needed (I know I could save a few quid by getting just the switch, but the last time I tied to be clever like that Hitler invaded Poland, so i have to be careful!!). So I reckon thats an easy "plug and play" according to other threads here.

6 CD Changer:
I already have a Business CD player in the dash and believe that the CD Changer fits neatly in the hidey-hole between/behind the seats - Great!!
i am informed that the wiring is already there????
I was looking at part 6516913390. But then my world was blown apart when I saw that what I really needed was an Alpine Model 82110028760 with fitting kit 65120152827.
AArrgghhhhhh?!?!!?!
My befuddled mind is OK when I know what I am looking for, but to have two possibilities!!
Are they both the same item but one with the "original" alpine part number and the other with the "badged" BMW part number? If so, great - either will do.
If not, which will fit/do people recommend?

Thanks in advance for any help (and if you have any of these to sell, even better :D )

Hi Steve,

Not sure on the CD changer parts... although if you don't have one already you will need to change the stroage bin as well (the changer fits in the bottom). Have you thought about an iPod adapter instead? All in you can get the adapter for around £150 pluss a cheap iPod to leave in the glove box - lots more choice and text display too! Recently fitted a Dension GW unit myself, although subsequently joined the forum to find a lot of chaps here seem to favour the Intervee. A little work needed to determine what you need.

Just a though!

Whichever way you go there's plenty on here who know how to do it!

Personally, when I get the time and work out what bits I need, a decent MP3/USB/Aux stereo is on my list - its far easier and just as cost effective as fannying about withiPod adaptors etc....and really not that costly as an upgrade - its a bloody noisy car anyway so a mega-quality stereo isn't necessary IMHO.

Plus, its one car where playing your stereo at the max, especially with the roof down, is likely to get you a beer can in the lughole..... :headbang:

Hi,

the CC is plug n play
the wiring is there for the cd changer, but you'll need to take out the centre console to fit it
sorry, not sure about the different part numbers

Just buy the CC stork and dremel out the existing cowel, much cheaper than buying their kit.

With regard to the CD changer, dont do it unless you but one from ebay, but they are know to jam, just get an ipod and Intravee/Dension setup.

Thanks all for your responses - looks like the Cruise Control is going to be a doddle (know what you mean srhutch - but I really cant be trusted to complete a job that needs some finesse without something daft occurring, such as the steering wheel warping, etc!!)

Must admit, the 3mm jackplug option as opposed to a CD changer is a great idea - I currently have an iphone but am going to swap it soon for a palm, so the aux idea would be an easier/cheaper option - THANKS!!

Cheers all

Steve

Cruise Control sorted - got the £150 full kit.
What a doddle - undo 1 screw, plug in the switch, push the new cowl on and put the screw back in.
Cant believe even i managed it!!!!
