After almost two months of searching, researching and a half second from pressing the "BUY" button on two different wheels, my new wheels are on the car...
I fell into a deal for a set of AC Schnitzer - Type III 2 Piece - 18" x 8.5" Wheels.
I had them mounted an balanced last night, and did not get them on the car until I go home from work this evening. As the sun went down the picture quality went down also....
Here before mounting:
Here is a picture of the old crap:
Now with the NEW:
A low light shots:
Thanks to Rick who was able to keep the secret....
That is NOT Rick's mini-van....
Since I have just put them on, have not been able to drive them. If the weather here, is good tomorrow I will drive it to work...
Thanks to everyone who chimed in with comments and suggestions on the possibles I had posted and many thanks to WLH for the tire advice.
Due to fitment uncertainness, I went with 225/40's. I really wanted 235's but was unsure.
The fitter, according to HUNTER, the wheel balancer people, is the best there is in the US. He as a Hunter 9712 RoadForce balancer, among other specialized equipment.
He was very impressed with the balance of the wheels/tires. The front two wheel have a total 'RoadForce' number of 7 and the rears are 8.1. Lower is better. He says that the average high performance wheels he sees has numbers around 12-15. The best he as seen is a four.
Each wheel needed only 1/4oz of weight.
Can't wait to try them out... especially after getting them scrubbed a little bit....
