Not best of starts

Hi all
Is it just my bad luck? Had my Z for less than a month and had a few issues... Bonnet release catch went day 3, wing mirror was loose (fixed myself), now my roof motor has gone!

Going to take to my local indie in Ely to see if they can help with roof. I assume around £600 bill to come if it is the motor...anybody used indie in Cambridgeshire for sim problem? What should I be wary of when getting this sorted... Have looked through many posts and seems to be such a common problem. Will report back as these guys are not listed on here but seem very helpful.

Was looking at changing from rft to Falkens to improve ride but not now for a while. Love the car but be nice to have a chance to drive it without too many more issues for a while.
:(

Did you pay by credit card? If so, you may be covered. I forget which Consumer Credit Act it is, perhaps 75 or 85......but you get a good level of protection nowadays albeit some credit card companies are lazy and may need to be pushed to act on you behalf. For example, if you bought a car for £500, whilst I would think you'd be lucky to get any mileage out of it, the CCA expects it to run for at least 6 months. Worth a try. I pay for absolutely everything nowadays on credit cards due to the protection it brings. If you've had so many problems so quickly, I believe you could be protected.

Perhaps this is a reason why so many car dealers want good old fashioned cash or bankers cheque (as well as saving the extortionate fees).

Can't help with your problem but will be interested to hear what you think of the Indy in Ely. The one opposite tescos I take it?

Thanks guys. Just a quick update and more questions...

Local Indy was not interested in looking at roof motor, advised me to go to main dealer. So where to go to next? Anybody recommend a good Indy where they have had this repair done? Don't mind travelling just want agood job done at a reasonable price. Can it be done in a day?

Or do I just go to Elms (BMW) in Cambridge but I assume it will cost me a lot more?

No from a small German car specialist who said motor was not covered under 3 month warranty! But was willing to help if he could but at my cost no doubt.

Then I believe the sale of goods act is your friend. I'd suggest you take advice, but iirc you can insist on the dealer getting it repaired

+1

I had 2 of those 3 happen on my Roadster too (wing mirror and bonnet catch).

+3 on the Sale of Goods Act. Good luck, hope you get it resolved to your satisfaction soon so that you can enjoy the car.
