Northeast England Meet

Just testing the waters, there must be a fair few owners from around Middlesbrough/Newcastle area? How about a meet sometime?

aye, when/where were you thinking? i know shed loads of ace roads around the area due to biking if you want some suggestions for a drive out and park up.

I was thinking at a weekend and then if its successful make it monthly. There are a few places on the A19 which is fair for people from Middlesbrough and Newcastle.

Coming from the focus ST oc forum, a lot of the northern bias meets on there used to start from the hotel carpark at Scotch corner, it pretty easy to get to from anywhere in the NE and is basically the gateway to many of the good driving roads around this area.
I know somebody mentioned Helmsley previously but within the last year its become increasing unfriendly mainly towards bikers but due to that most of the road from stokesly to helmsley is now on solid white lines and is crawling with undercover cop cars/bikes. A better option would be to head down through richmond and stop at Masham as there is a big open market square to park and a fantastic bacon buttie shop, coming back up via thirsk/northallerton. Alternatively the run over the stang towards hawes taking in the butter tubs pass is another fantastic road, heading back via leyburn. Bit of a longer run out but heading up through middleton in teesdale to heartside cafe is a road that must be experienced at some point, another fav bike run so similar cop spotting applies if the speed was accidentally to slip over 60.
Im well up for getting a bit of a meet going and heading out somewhere convoy style, especially now the better weather is coming.

That sounds good, scotch corner one could be a winner. Best at weekends?

If you want to organise a meet then pick a date in a few weeks time to give everyone a chance to make plans, Sundays are good as people generally have other responsibilities on a Saturday.

Pick a time and location eg meet 10am scotch corner, set off at 10.30, let people know the route you plan on taking, where the stops are going to be and an approximate amount of time you intend to be out.

Also it would be handy if you edited your first post to include the names of the definites and the maybes so you have some idea of expected numbers.

Next weekend is too short notice, the weekend after is easter weekend and I cant make that as iv got other plans as im sure many other people have too, just throwing it into the pot but how about the following weekend which is Sunday 19th April?

I agree. Scotch corner is good place to meet. I can make it from Leeds in about 50 minutes. I suspect York, Newcastle, Scarborough are about the same. Easily accessible to people in the North-East.

Excellent routes towards Hawes, Masham, Leyburn, Grassington, etc. across the Yorkshire Dales. Plenty of nice places to stop for lunch, tea/coffee.
