Nooks and crannies!

I have noticed a large amount of grit collecting where the rag top dissapears under the rear panel that is situated in front of the boot. I can force a small vac nozzle between the seal and the fabric to remove it but am a little worried about doing this on a regular basis. How do you guys get over this? Is it acceptable to partially open the roof to remove dust or grit that collects in these difficult areas as i am a bit paranoid about stopping the roof halfway through its cycle in case i cause any damage. :(
 
I used to part open the roof, and get in there with a soft brush and soapy water, works fine. Alternative is to remove the trim around the base, but that was just too much like hard work. Provided you clean it thoroughly, then treat it with some water repellent/proper roof protector, it will keep it at bay.
 
shouldnt be a problem, due to a failure with my motor i just do it manually,,,( until i can get it fixed )

I partly open/close the roof all the time to do various cleaning tasks. I have a decent grasp of the mechanics involved and cannot think of any reason why this would be detrimental. There is actually more risk (though minuscule) in 'forcing' a nozzle into the joint. :wink:
 
Nope, Ignition on, raise the roof enough to get some slack in the fabric. Clean and scrub, roof back up. As the Meerkat says, Simples!
 
Interested to know the recommended technique for this as I'm planning a "deep clean" this weekend...

Yep. Parcel shelf is a particular PITA. Also, down the sides and in the crannies of the exposed roof mechanism when it is open. How do you clean that, pipe cleaners ???

I have done the half down roof cleaning manoeuvre with no ill effects though :thumbsup:

Fabric flexes probably force was not the right word :(

Try a computer cleaner (the air duster). Although to polish, its a thin piece of plastic covered by a microfibre cloth (jeez.... going to need treatment for this OCD soon)..... :oops:
