Noobie

Hi , just purchased a 2004 3.0 with 74,000 on the clock , it's not a perfect example , has some marks from being parked in Knightsbridge all its life , has the exhaust emissions light on the dash , previous owner said it came on after he nearly ran out of fuel last week , shall see if that's true or not ...maybe it is ..anyone here had that experience where it's not a lambda sensor like previous VW had ? dash says 7000 miles till service but I will do it anyways . Steering and everything feels okay , engine sounds nice and pulls well , not manic like some other stuff I drive ...but more a solid shove up the road . It was cheap as chips anyways so it has room to absorb some cash into it without me feeling conned . So anyways glad to be a forum member enjoying reading the fixed this threads and looking forward to doing some of them myself , drain holes a defo early point of call :D

Welcome along

EML could be anything, get it code read before you start, I'm sure it won't be anything too serious.

It's not the EML light its the hopefully less serious little yellow piccy of an engine light, same as Vw has for when the lambda sensor goes pop.. Which it alway does. Wifes car has had that light on for two years now, I gave up bothering to fix it as her car drives fine and she never goes far. Just clear it for the mot few days later it comes baxk on again.

Working on the principal of an old car no matter how good it looks will have time wear to mechanical parts and my focus is on go over show so a rough looking lower milage for around 2-3000 quid less than the usual offerings on autotrader or eBay is whats required.. It's has a fsh and a new roof and 4 new tires so it ain't too bad.

Just how I got my 2.5 needs some work to get it looking and sounding good but quite happy to do that. Welcome.
