Non-BMW servicing

Is there any gotcha's to doing the service yourself? Oil change, filters, clutch, etc.?

Are you able to reset the indicator yourself without some sort of program? For that matter, is there some sort of program to access the computer?

Thanks!

DIY servicing will hit your resale value and saleability - its drummed into us all, don't buy unless it has a BMW or recognised Independant's FSH...so if your looking to sell it on sometime....

It's strange, almost everyone agrees that the stealers are a useless bunch of to***rs who couldn't give a sh*t about your pride and joy and can't fix a blown bulb but we all want a car with full stealer history.

I either do my own servicing or use an indy who knows what they're doing. Stuff resale value, I prefer to get it done properly. I've kinda screwed up the resale value anyway with all my mods and I don't plan to sell for many years.

You can reset the service indicator yourself, I posted a how to somewhere on the forum. It involves pressing the two buttons on the gauges in a certain sequence.
