has anyone had problems with noisy auto fold mirrors in hot weather, i have noticed mine are I don't think it's the motor,
more the plastics rubbing together as if they have expanded a bit

The noise is down to the mirror caps rubbing at the bottom at the inboard corner when it folds. When I took mine off a few weeks ago the paint on the passenger mirror cap had worn off. You can't see where it rubs as its hidden by the mirror housing. If the noise bothers you take the mirror covers off and grease the pivot points :)

I had this problem last summer. I didn't notice whether it was weather related, but just thought I was noticing it more when the hood was down. Since they lubed it for me, I don't think the problem has recurred.

Silicone spray and WD40 solve most irritating noises from cars. That and the threat of a big hammer if either of them don't work...

i squirted some Silicone spray in between the mirror arm and bracket using the straw attachment and wiping away excess silicone with a cloth, that was in feb and had no problems since.

Comes and goes on both our Z4 and 1'er.

Do think the rest of the car has been quieter in the hot weather though....less rattles and creaks...although had the roof down most of the time!
