So having spent quite a bit of time in my independent local motor store to get replacement wing mirror glass, I perused the shelves and found this http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=smart%20wax%20one&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&ved=0CDQQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FSmartwax-20105-SmartONE-Waterless-Sealant%2Fdp%2FB0028SH6PE&ei=dqnAUbnPKo7sO-uZgegB&usg=AFQjCNH_KVlZb0HWIX6SW0xV-YF9cnMxkw&sig2=sEx2qU9MsVY0k_clMm9GAQ&bvm=bv.47883778,d.ZWU
Sorry, couldn't find UK source for this, but it's called Smartwax One.
At £16.99 I was a bit sceptical, but shop owner took me out for demo and I was amazed. As I locked myself out of house today, I cleaned car whilst waiting for husband and this is what it looked like after 15 minutes. Literally mist on, wipe, then polish. Washed and waxed, job done. Even swirl marks look better !

Couldn't get in garage for the tyre shine, as lost front door keys with garage key on them. It was just me, the Smartwax and the microfibre cloths I always have in the car !

Guess it depends how dirty it is. If mine is just slightly dusty then using quick detailer brings it back with one damage...

I cringed whilst I was reading it, I too would have thought that overtime it would end up damaging the clear coat. But it looks nice and shiny and your zed looks great

To be fair it was dusty and water marked from recent rain, rather than dirty, and I too questioned shop owner about scratching. Apparently, and I can only go by what he told me and what the bottle tells me it emulsifies and lifts the dirt, encapsulating it as it does so. Interestingly, you have to shake the bottle to disperse all the clay which settles on the bottom back into the solution.
Thank you for saying my zed looks great :).

Yea...

It has a high % of Kaolin clay that settles at the bottom of the bottle..This is the "swirl filler" part of the product.

Water marks and a very light dusting should be fine....

Wonder whats the real difference between SW1 and a decent QD ?

How much was it by the way ?

QD has no fillers in it - simply lifts the dust and lubricates the surface. I might be tempted to try this SW1 - I spent 2 1/2 hours washing my car today, but it was only dusty and slightly water-marked...

Ah, interesting about the clay being the swirl filler. As for the price.... erm.... it was £16.99  :D

I've got the Showroom Shine waterless cleaner which is basically a carnauba wax with surfactants to lift the dirt off the paintwork. Its a great wax on its own but I still wash as normal beforehand. However it really does work as much as you think paintwork will get scratched as hell.

Tim.

i use it to get our greasy fingermarks off shiny black polyester cased grand pianos when we deliver them, fantastic for this , wouldnt dream of using it on a dry car that had been driven as road dust is just grit but smaller, as for a car that has been on wet or damp roads, even more grit, this product will scratch yr paint. all the technical words ad men use to push a product are just that,... words,.. surfactants, encapsulate my arse, think about it , put some road grime on a car and rub it in with a rag, how the hell can any product encapsulate that / GET REAL ! maybe ok on a cheap runabout that you dont value the paintwork on but even 2 bucket car washing will still give you swirls. the road grime these guys use on the demo panel to sell this stuff on the shopping channel or at shows, is NOT road grime , it is some concoction they make up purely for the demo and to fool you into buying this miracle product. Barnum said, "theres a sucker born every minute, and you just happened to come along at the right time !". wash your car the traditional way first, then use this as an easy on easy off polish for a quick job its fine ,but that is all it is, ask any pro detailer if they would use it on a clients pride and joy over snow foam , 2 bucket wash, towel dry, polish and good wax,... I'll wager not !!!

Interesting comments on the 'dry wash', I've used Geased Lightning for 3 years although my car does get too dirty but I use it because I do not want to wash the car then garage it when wet.

It does not cause swirl marksandis useful when removing dead flies etc. I would not use it on a muddy car.

Well I've just bought this but not used it yet.

Same principle I presume as Optimum No Rinse (ONR)?

Maybe OK between washes but not for a proper full wash? i.e. to be used in conjunction with watered washes and not as a replacement for?

no it doesnt cause swirl marks, the road grime causes swirl marks, try it on a muddy car then say it doesnt cause swirl marks

The dry wash works well, but not on a really dirty car. I use as a quick detailer. But I think there is still no easy way to keep your car perfect. That is if you drive it properly.
