No steering wheel controls?

Hey everyone!

This is my first ever post as just put a deposit down on a Z4 that I will be picking up next week :)

And yes I know I need pics lol I will open a photo bucket account this week.

My first ever question is my steering wheel doesn't have radio controls built in. Which speaker system does this mean In have. It has a 6 CD changer in centre. It's a 2004 model

Look forward to pestering you all with my newbie questions and joining in with the banter

Cheers in advance

Lee

Lack of MSFW doesnt indicate which speaker system it has unfortunately.

Best to check the spec by following the instructions here: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=46117&hilit=+spec

However its likely the basic speaker system..

Cheers bluestreak

i entered my VN number Ls82603 and it says 'hi-fi system professional with DSP. Is that the 10 speakers system?

Sorry for the dumb questions

There were three stereo systems, base (6 speakers), hifi (10 speakers), and the top hifi (10 speakers) with digital signal processing. You've got the latter.

There's a good chance you've got the wiring in place to add the MFSW controls, should you want to do so.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

I am sure you have done a thorough check of your new purchase but if not there's a link to a check list in my signature. :)

MFSW is an easy retrofit should you want to (and I even have a good condition MFSW..........).

Good luck with your new purchase and pics in the Newbies section when you get her.

I wasn't all that fussed about what stereo it had as I'm gonna swap most of the kit out. Plus the car was in such good condition that I couldn't say no. Be interesting to see if the owner was a member on here actually.

But as you said bluestreak, its weird that I have DSP and no controls. I'll keep you posted when I pick her up at the weekend and have a better look.

My recently purchased car has DSP but no steering wheel controls :(

It's certainly something I would like to have at some point, especially with BT so I can answer the phone without looking for the button on the dash.

Is it a whole new wheel or can you just retro fit the 2 parts with the buttons?

Where are all the breakers on this forum lol

Think I need to put a shout out on the wanted section for a MFSW.

Gonna call bmw at some point this week as I swear I read on here that you can buy a brand new MFSW from BMW for around £220
