No AM radio reception

Hi,
I've read lots of threads on here about poor FM radio reception and things to check to improve it but......
My 2004 3.0i E85 has perfect FM reception but the AM is terrible.
Does anybody have any ideas on how to improve the AM reception

The best improvement to AM radio is DAB oke:
Not the answer you were looking for I know but I can't seem to find a way to get on with the original head unit so will be swapping over soon.
