Nitrogen inflation

Anyone had their tyres inflated with nitrogen? Am having all 4 changed next week so thinking about it especially with a 500 mile autobahn run coming up and the ability for them to maintain constant pressure at heat. Seems a cheap mod at £4 all round.

I've got some 'huile de serpent' if you want some - guaranteed to increase your sex appeal.

Unless you're planning on racing your car, or need temperature/pressure control to within 0.1c/psi then 'pure' nitrogen inflationwon't offer much. After all the air we breathe is about 78% nitrogen already (Nitrogen: 78.09%, Oxygen: 20.95%, Argon: 0.93%, Carbon dioxide: 0.038%, Neon, Helium, Krypton, Hydrogen, Xenon, etc.).

You'd also have to make sure that you only top up with pure nitrogen to maintain those 'benefits'.

You'd be better off filling them with pure helium to reduce the weight of the car

It won't do any harm though, and it's what Costco put in mine (no charge as they do it as standard) when I put the SuperSports on.

Every car I've had has needed the tyres topped up at some point, and I've never seen a nitrogen cylinder for a 12v tyre inflater!

For me, it would be more hassle than it's worth.

I should also add that I did have a set of tyres on my 5er filled with nitrogen a while back when a local branch of a well-known quick fitting tyre company were offering it at £1 per tyre.... I can't say that I noticed any discernible improvement in roadholding and my tyres wore at a roughly the same rate, I would say...

I discussed this with ATS and they fill all runflat tyres with it as a matter of course.

Costco puts Nitrogen as std so ran it with my new Michelins since last summer.

Had wheels refurbed recently & to b perfectly honest, with it being filled with std air can't tell the difference...
