It's a really nice colour, the wheels are 19" because it's the GT pack, so it also comes with sat mac bluetooth etc!!

It's very fast and sounds amazing - alot better than the z4 - it's got super sharp handling BUT:

The seating is quite high up and don't feel as low down as the z4!
I don't like auto's
Because I love the sound of the engine I cannot get more than 18mpg out of it!
Alot of tough plastics surrounding the driving seat!

Would I buy this for £24k 1 year old? Prob not - it looks awesome and sounds amazing just not BMW or for that money a 2 year old cayman would feel alot better!!

Sorry for the bad write up on my iPhone at work ha...

A 2 year old cayman for 24K? That would be the small engined one then and probably much higher miles, those things command a very good used price. I'd have to get the 3.4, more money still.

I tried the 370z before getting the Z4. I didn't like the harsh ride (aka e85) and isn't it interesting how people like different things, because I hated the engine sound. There was almost no noise at the exhaust, but the engine sounded like a low grinding rumble. Guess I'm happier with higher revving, exhaust popping DCT and turbo sounds lol

Still, they are very good value for money and probably more reliable!

Interesting to hear that as most of the reviews I have read slammed the engine for sounding incredibly rough.

I test drove one before i got my Z4.

Personally i loved it (and the 350z), the ride, the noise and even the interior didnt bother me.

But the £400+ road tax, and piss poor mpg put me off it... considering its performance is around the same as a 3.0si.

Nice but not wanting to put a downer on things I would strongly recommend the following:

1. Make sure you have written and verbal (recorded) confirmation that the person who hit you has fully accepted liability.
2. Get confirmation that you will not be charged regardless of the outcome for the hire. Get this from your insurers and the company that is providing the car.

The reason I say this is because I was handed a bill for £8000 last year for hire car charges after someone drove into the side of my M3 and admitted liablity. My insurance company agreed that they thought he was liable and authorised the hire car. I had a Boxter S for just over three weeks whilst my car was repaired.

The third party (under advise from lawyers) then retracted liability and because his lawyers were more motivated than mine (car hire company) I ended up taking the blame for the accident. Shortly afterwards the hire company told me I was liable for the hire charges and started to get agressive. Fortuntatley I have call recording on my VOIP phone and presented both them with voice recordings from the insurer and themselves clearly stating that I would not be liable for any charges regardless of the outcome. At this point they had little choice but to walk away with their tail between their legs.

You may also get asked to change you legal representation from your insurers to the company providing the hire car. I would be really wary about this as all they are bothered about is recovering the hire charges (they may tell you different, but the lawers are employed by the hire company not your insurers) and if they case is close to being 50/50 then they will very quickly turn their attention to you.

Second the advice from Moonigan, I had a 635d on hire after an prang in my Boxster, was 2 weeks away from having to go to court as the other side wouldn't pay out. More stress than I needed, will be asking for a VW Polo next time

Ready some of the liability concerns on this post, I'm so happy that here in Quebec, we have the no-fault insurance law in effect. It means that whatever accident your in, repairs will be done based on your own material coverage policy, independant form what the other has or who is responsible. Personal injuries are covered by a Governement insurance, which we pay on our car registration. This additional cost is countered by lower material damage rates, since insurance companies are never responsible for potential physical injury costs.

The other great thing about our insurance law, is that my Government will cover my physical injury costs anywhere I'm involved in a road accident around the world! I had the misfortune of being hit by a car in Bermuda last summer while riding a rented motorcycle, and 100% of my medical costs and reabilitation have been refunded. My Gov then handles all of the legal to get their money back from the insurance company of the driver who hit me.

Not sure, but we probably have the best car insurance policies in the world here in Qc.

Yea he has admitted liability and it's all been paid for from his insurance company. Neither of us was in the car, he left his handbrake off and his car rolled into mine!!

He also has company car insurance so already confirmed they will take care of it all?
!

Yea but read the manual gear box is poo?? This has 7 gears though and dual clutch!

I'm not liking the 18mpg it's a joke, must be so much heavier than the z4!

I've had the occasion to drive several 370Z (standard coupé, GT edition coupé and convertible) in different situations (including tracking a FreeRace one !) and i have to say that it is a very nice car, especially given the price it's sold.
But IMHO, the Z4 is better in every single way, except the price.
The 370Z is a fine car, handling is excellent, the engine is more than excellent, it has everything a modern sports car should have... but it feels "unfinished".
The 350Z was a protoype made "raod legal". The 370Z is the "completed" version of the 350Z, but still feels not completely finished.
Transmission makes very strange noises. The clutch (on manual version) has a very bad feeling about it (worse than the CDV on a Z4...). The double clutch seems to harsh on the transmission. Interior is OK, but the design is really not inspired.
It is, clearly, a "modern sports car on a budget". It's OK, but lacks the "wow" effect. Which the Z4 has.

Yes agreed the driving position, and the overall car seems heavier and not as nimble as the z4! The z4 is so much more of a drivers car!!

In my oppinion though this is a much better looking car than the new Z4.. And you get new head turns lol
