Right I'm after a dash cam, I think I've whittled it down to the nextbase 402G. On eBay they're about £80 which is a good saving. Image quality seems good and quality seems good too. Are there any others I should be looking at for that money?

I have the 402g and can't fault it. Hardwired in, it does all I want it to do. I've had a few memory cards fail on me though....I think the constant re-writing must have an effect on them. I now format my card monthly and haven't had any issues........yet.

Just had one for my birthday last week from my kids
Hard wired it in this morning in the TT looks great seems to do everything I need very well

Excellent. Cheers guys. So this seems a good deal? The B grade is cheaper still?

That is a great price for a great dash cam
Bought mine from Costco for just over £100 about 6 months and not had any issues.

Just a couple of bits of advice........
- make sure you have the speed function switched off, could be difficult in proving fault if your video displays you were a couple of mph over the limit.
- I blacked out all the wording on the front plastic housing of the dash cam using a black marker. This makes it much more difficult to see by others from outside the car.

Definitely go for the nextbase at that price.

Great tips

This is how it looks set up in my Audi on the passenger side out of my line of vision

And very nice hardwiring solution from Maplin £14.99 also on the audi

Super job, bit the bullet and bought one today. So with a bit of luck it might be here for the weekend. Will update once it's in!

Well, it went pretty smoothly. Hardest part was finding the right screw to ground it with, and I had to shave a slight bit off the usb to slide it through where the mirror loom is. Anyway, Firstly massive massive thanks to JINGLE who gave me loads of help and even supplied the converter for me. You sir are a legend! :happyclap:
JINGLE sent me over this guide which was really easy to follow. (FYI I have don't have rain sensors but having a pre facelift I already have the looms in place)

And then after all that I've forgotten to take a pic of the finished article! lol, Ill get a picture tomorrow.

Anyway the software is great, showing speed location, route, G force everything. (finger place as I might have been going 1 or 2 mph over what is acceptable :o :driving: ) the program is mac and windows, and then you can edit your video in youtube as I have

And then a couple of vids, obviously daylight is going to be better, but I installed it after work and its dark.. so tough luck!

Edit: fitted pics in daylight

I haven't played with the settings so I should imagine the quality is set to normal, being a bloke I just wanted it on and I haven't read the book yet on settings etc
Also I'm not sure if I uploaded it to youtube in HD, but hopefully it is!
EDIT: just checked and click the youtube button to watch in on the youtube website then change the resolution to 1080p when you do

just waiting for a driving video to upload then I'll update with that vid too.
EDIT other vid now up, just going through my estate. again 1080p will be when you click the youtube icon, as I'm not sure if it defaults to it on here,

EDIT : just got home, now have a daylight vid as I'm coming home from work. Taken off the speed, but have added in my REG number. excuse the music, after a dull day inside, a bit of N.W.A. was needed. video inc

Overall Verdict. you need one of these in your life, I've not played with the settings so not sure if the quality can be better still. But, the software is great and supports OS and windows. fairly small, easy to operate, stable footage. can easily switch to camera mode if you want to take pics after an 'event'. records in 3 min intervals from what i can see so its easy to extract what you want. Loops over once full also on the micro SD. I never give anything a 10/10, but its damn close so 9/10 pushing 9.5 lol

Thanks again to all that has given me a hand!

Thanks for the write up.

Just checking on install - black wire to earth, red wire to any purple you can find (behind the light is a good shout)?

Is the purple permanent live or live on ignition?

Thank mate, the purple is the live for the rain sensors (which isn't installed on my vehicle) soothe 4cables just lead to a blank connector. It's live on ignition, so as I start the car it will automatically turn on and start recording, and turn off when the car is turned off.

The guide in the link tells really easily which loom it is too.

No worries mate, glad I could help :)

Seeing your wheels has made me want 19s even more now! Your car was so clean I need to give mine a good clean over the weekend proving my coil pack doesn't decide to die just as in about to start working on it again haha!!

My neighbours are always taking the piss as I'm always cleaning it! Even the local kids pick up on it too lol!
As for 19"s....... Do it do it do it!! :poke:

updated with daylight driving vid, and mini verdict. remember to change the quality on the vid to 1080p, and if it doesn't click on the youtube logo, and watch in youtube and change the quality on there to 1080p.

overall, very impressed.
