Newspaper for cleaning the windows...

I have recently start using newspaper instead of microcloth towels and find that it's easier to clean and also does a better job. No little bits of lint left on the glass. Anyone else use newspaper for cleaning their glass? Anyone know of any problems/damage to the glass from using newspaper?

My mother made me do this when i was a kid, but I get my windows pretty clean with a dry microfibre towel.

Can you explain how that works? Wet or dry newspaper? Yes. I am ignorant. :|

To take on car glass cleaning used to be a linear, find the best product and then develop a technique. Whilst some of those elements are still important it will not answer the question of: what is the best way to clean a car window? First of all those of us with a roadster have to consider that our glass is more open to airborne contaminants than a closed sedan or coupe. After all one of the reasons we bought our roadsters was the open air, right? Anyway, glass gets dirty from a bunch of sources so one cleaner is not going to be the answer.

Interior glass:

To start I use plain white paper/kitchen towels with Windex. I clean them twice and make sure you are in the shade. I then use Stoner's Invisible Glass with a Glass specific microfiber towel. These towels will not shed lint on the glass. This is for the interior glass. I do not use Windex or a strong ammonia based cleaner on glass that has been tinted with film. You don't want to do that.

Exterior glass:

I start with spraying isopropyl alcohol on the window to remove oil and tar specs. I then soak a shop rag in the iso and wipe the edges of the wiper blades as they collect a load of oil and tar. Then using a paper/kitchen tool with Windex thoroughly clean the windows going over then several times. Again, this must be in the shade. I finish with Stoner's Invisible Glass cleaner.

I guess one could use a newspaper instead of the paper towel. I never liked using it because my hands get ink on them so....you figure it out.
Here is a very handy tool I use: Window cleaner

20 ducks, i like your methods, and they work pretty darn good! i tend to do this when i have a saturday morning to kill cleaning my precious up. otherwise.............. newspaper it is.

one of my relatives said that the newspaper ink works to remove the dirt and all that dirty junk off your windows AND it doesn't leave lint and such nasty ungodly-things-to-look-at behind.

to each their own* 8)

Heard good reports on the newspaper trick will have to give it a try.

20Ducks the item you have mentioned http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/car+care/interior+detailing/window+cleaner+set.do i have been looking at for a while as cleaning the inside of car windscreens is one of my pet hates i take it it fits down into the corners OK on the Z4.
