Newbie

Hi all, recently bought my z4 e85 2.0, had to get the 2 as insurance is mental! Nonetheless, loving every second, especially coming from a focus! Already had the roof motor done and a cam cover gasket, but sorted at the zed shed for a very reasonable price, highly recommend. Attached below are the obligatory pics, enjoy, also if anyone knows the dark blue colour name, im curious, thanks. Have mentioned in buy and sell that i am interested in purchasing a 6 speed storm motorwerks v1 gear knob aswell, if anyone has one for sale please let me know!

Welcome to the madhouse.
If you struggled with insurance costs then for goodness sake don't read too much on here!
How to empty your wallet without even trying.

Welcome to the forum. Great colour combo which will keep you very busy keeping clean on the inside and out :o
I’d love to know what you mean by “mental”, as Z4s (I’ve had E85 and E86) seem really cheap to insure. My 3.0i is cheaper to insure than any other car I’ve ever owned and even my son’s (who was 19 when he first got it) 2.5i is affordable - like half the cost of a Corsa.

Hi and welcome to the forum - that's a lovely colour combination.

Wow that’s crippling insurance! Well done on getting into what looks a lovely wee Z with a great colour combo

Ouch - that's painful. :o

Cheap car insurance must be one of the few benefits of getting older!

Do you have a 'black box' for that money, or is it a normal policy?

So in the first year you’ve given the insurance company more than the car is worth, and they know full well any little dink will be a write off. So worst case for them, they give you 3/4 of that back.
Thieving gits!

Ouch, my son’s was about £900 at 19, now down to just under £600 three years later. It’s a normal policy with Admiral and he didn’t have any NCD. His quotes for “normal” cars were much higher. I really don’t understand how the insurance companies set their premiums, :scratchhead:

What if he runs into a Ferrari, or badly injures another road user? The insurance companies risk is not limited to just the Z4.

Yeah, but be realistic, the car owner doesn't give a toss, all they see is their cost.

When you think that 'any' repair to any car these days is £1000 minimum to insurers and a 19 year old male is about as high risk as they come (no offence to the OP, it's just the way it is statistically) then the premiums make sense a bit.
I have a 17 year old daughter. All of her age group peers are passing their tests. I know of at least 4 already who have had accidents. All quite minor but will result in claims.

If body repair and mechanics didn't charge £200 an hour and parts weren't rip-off money, maybe insurance premiums would be quite a bit lower all round. :?
