Hi everyone,

I've read this forum a fair bit in the run-up to buying my Z4 (yesterday!) You all seem to be very knowledgable about your cars so...

I'm interested in replacing the side indicators to clear ones, and the rear centre brake light to a clear one. Is it best to just be patient on ebay to find one? or is there a shop somewhere that sells these?

I also need a new gear stick head as my one is slightly worn and would like it looking good. Again, where is best to get a replacement from? BMW? (dont really want anything too fancy)

Any help or links would be grately appreciated!!

hi, welcome to the forum.

http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13603 try having a look at this for a replacement gearknob, it seems to fit the zed quite well.

i just bought a set of clear lights from ebay, but you can get them from the dealer for about 250 for indicators, badges, rear lights and brake light.
they took ages for me to get from ebay. quite rare.

get some pics up!!!

Hi and welcome to the forum :D

Got my clear centre brake light from the dealers - £50. likewise the sides from the dealer are about £13 each IIRC...

ZHP gearknob is great

Thanks guys!

Some of those gear knobs looks great but £60 is hard to justify for the Storm ones. Inuendo's out of the way, can a heavier knob really improve performance??

I've got a black Z with white leather interior so I think it would look pretty good.

As for the lights, I think I'll just keep checking ebay for now. My bank balance is looking a little empty right now :-)

I'm going to try and fit cruise control next. I've seen plenty of articles on this forum about fitting them youself, so gonna give it a go.

the shorter heavier gearknobs dont increase performance - they just make the shifting action shorter and easier

i went with a storm and its worth the money. id say keep the original as you can put it back on and take the storm to your next car should you ever sell the z4.

Yeah I presumed it wouldnt actually increase engine performance :P
Was thinking more of my performance!!!

Just been for another drive... I was heckled by a van man and a Vauxhall VXR tried to race me off some lights. Is this going to be an everyday thing for me now?!

I'm going to go for a Storm gear knob me thinks. Cheers for the advise everyone :-D

i just fitted my cruise, took 20-30 mins be careful and follow the posts on here. Use a dremel and tape around the bit you cut for protection, just incase

Get together with some of your local Z owners and check out their knobs :o . Many of us have very specific likes and dislikes when it comes to the feel and looks of a shift knob. Once you narrow your choices down, you can go hunting for the best deal.
