NEWBIE + Z4 = MASSIVE SMILE (noob Questions...)

After a long search (2 months! - waaayyyy too long for me) I've finally got it

2003 - 2.5i in bright red with black leather - not to everyone's liking but I love it in red.

I have been driving around the bendy roads of berkshire and oxofrdshire and seriously can not stop smiling.

I am intending to spend a good part of the day cleaning it tomorrow so will take some pics then!

A few bits I want done include

sound generator (parts on order),
clear wind deflector - I found one for sale on a US site - roadstersolutions. Any idea where I could get one in the UK? Don't want to pay import tax!
Tyres to non runflats - ride is super hard (especially with the roof up?!). People here seem to suggest Falken? What's the best way of going about this - do they sell these in a standard tyre fitting places?
Need to get brake fluid checked out - manual says its due for a check up. I am thinking to do this at local BMW.
Key re-programming to enable opening the roof by holding the button down - any "indies" that do that in Berkshire?

Welcome. They do come equipped with a smile, don't they.

I think all your questions have good threads--do a search and if you can't dig them up, someone will surely help out.

Welcome to the smile factory!

Interested in the clear wind deflector also as once I had priced all the bits to fit a BM one it works out aboutthe same price even when only paying £50 on eBay for the mesh screen itself(also note most of the time the roll bar inserts are missing)

Only thing I was wondering is wind drag / strain... With the Perspex being solid ?

Has anyone fitted one of these??

Hi - glad you got the car and pleased it all worked out. Told you you'd like it :)
Spoke to the former owner yesterday and his 2009 is on a transporter somewhere so a few days of walking coming up.

On all the items do a few searches.
Falkens are a common swap but think of pump and goo.
Clear perspex is fitted by many. Technically according to BMW it's way inferior as it creates turbulence rather than slowing the air, but many prefer the clear look athan mesh.
Brake fluid do it yourself or any local garage that will use the right fluid. No need to pay BMW rates for that

welcome! i have clear perspex on my deflector, it seems fine to me and does a good job, id take extra turbulence as the clear improves visibility through the rear mirror.

yes a lot of people dump the rft, its on my list to do but after finding i have over 5mm tread on all mine it will be a while. the falkens seem to be a popular choice but do a bit of research, im thinking if i was changing now id go for VREDESTEIN Sessanta's - but thats only because ive tried vredestien tyres before and was impressed on my old hatchback.

brake fluid - just use a decent garage if you cant do it yourself, im having mine changed soon when i put the car in for a service/ brake pad & disc change / quote for bumper repair at a local bmw specialist. as the car isnt in warranty any more no need to use bmw unless you really want those dealer stamps.
