Newbie wanting engine choice advice!

You asked if it was different in the UK. I was pointing out that even on the coupe (which I have personal experience with) the wheels were different. The coupe with sport package in the UK got the 108s while here in the US, we got the "other" 5 spoke wheels (don't know the number). So, it IS possible that those wheels came with that engine in the UK.

The 3.0Si coupe and roadster in the U.S., with the sport package, do get the 5-spoke Style 108's.

In Europe and I know in Canada, I believe they have the option of choosing the newer version ellipsoids (not style 107's).

That's interesting.....mine didn't.Mine has 203s. The ROADSTER got the 108s.

Also, if you look at the forum header, that coupe has the elipsoids.

The factory put the wrong wheels on your car. Only the 3.0i with sport pkg gets the style 203's. Roadsters and coupes get the same wheels.

The coupe is an Euro version and has the newer version ellisoids, which is exactly what I said.

Edit: Well, either the factory put the wrong wheels on your car, or your dealer switched the wheels with a 3.0i to make a sale when another buyer would only buy the car if it had the better looking wheels.

Nope, those are the wheels shown in the brochure for 2007 and, when you could build your own, that's the ones you got with the 3.0Si Coupe with sport package. I highly doubt the factory makes THAT kind of "mistake".

The roadsters did indeed get the 108s. I know, I looked at brochure for a year before I got my coupe and was disappointed that the 203s were standard with the sport package on the coupe.

Here you go:

18" Light-alloy wheels Star Spoke (style203) with mixed run-flat perf. tires

I stand corrected. Sounds like what I said only applies to the roadsters. Don't know why BMWUSA decided not to put the style 108's on the 3.0si coupes as they look a lot better. 3.0si owners really got shafed on this one.

Yep, liked the way the 108s looked, but after hearing about the corrosion problems, maybe I'm liking the 203s better!

with some 3.0 being actually better buys (cheaper) than some similar age and spec 2.5, i don't see why you would.

also a few extra toys in the 3.0
