Newbie Question! 2003/4 E85 (M54B30)

Hi All,

I am new to the forum, I’ve always liked the idea of owning a Z4 and I’m finally looking to get an 2003/4 E85 (M54B30).

Would you look out for anything on this specific model/age? I’ve found the forum super useful and have checked out the buyers guide which was very helpful but any feedback from owners of the same/similar model would be greatly appreciated.

Loads of desirable bits. I'd be looking for...

- Heated M-sport seats (a must for me. Standard sport seats are crap)
- Wind deflector (an expensive retrofit)
- Replaced or healthy rear springs
- Multi function steering wheel (not a deal breaker)
- 10 speaker system
- No sat nav (trust me, a car of that age is better without it)
- Roof motor condition is critical. One that's been relocated to the boot is a winner. If not, then check the rear quarter where it sits for water ingress or even submersion. If it's good you can get it relocated by one of the forum's experts across the country for about £100

Good luck. There's always cars floating around the classifieds on here so keep your eyes peeled!

I owned a 2004 2.2 for a couple of years and all I had to do during ownership was replace the rear springs, front shocks and a couple of drop links. Pretty solid cars.
