You need to put some RAGE behind it. Imagine someone just said you had a hairdresser's car then have at it! :fightwall:
 
Soak overnight with penetrating oil. Depending on how much you value the current wheel, apply heat so the nut is hot but not the shaft. Get longer levers/spanners. Hammer on the spanner, impacts can loosen it. Have access to a windy gun? One of these should do the trick.
 
I just tried with a £11.99 wrench set from Halfords :( I tried brute force, a bit of rocking (apply pressure then back off) to the point where the car was rocking with me. It just wouldn't move. I think it's been airgunned on. Unfortunately I don't have access to an airgun.

I need me some proper tools. Some man tools.

I woke up this morning with sore shoulders!

If the car's rocking then I think he's applying sufficient force already - If we're not careful we'll soon be advising how to re-fit a windscreen because the wrench has gone through it!
 
Haha! Thanks for the encouragement, guys. I got the family involved too - my dad and girlfriend had a go at the centre bolt. It turned into some kind of sword in the stone competition!

I think the next time I try any mod, I'll bring the parts and car to a meet first!
 
Just wanted to thank you all for your advice and help! In the end, I asked an indy to help me sort it out which he did.

The car feels different now! The wheel is so thick that I can't help but brush my legs against it when I get into the car. But it is nice and it gives me a much more confident feel when driving. The thinner, standard wheel was a little more tactile but the sports wheel makes you feel like throwing the Zed around more!

You'll probably see more updates in this thread when I tackle that beast. How did everyone cut theirs? I have no power tools :(

I used wire cutters to do the basic shape and then a file to finish off. Perfect job I did too if I may say so! Dremel might be a bit OTT to be honest.
