Newbie - mk2 MR2 > '06 2.5i sport (hopefully!)

Hi everyone! The subject kinda says it all really. I'm an MR2 owner at the mo and as much as i've loved the thing, it's getting on a bit now so it's time to move on me thinks. Thinking of going for a nice 2.5i sport i've seen in metallic black (forgotten the name, it's not the ruby black tho), sadly not the si, but everything else on it is perfect for me i reckon, but willing to hear people's advice on the different engines and sport vs non sport etc.

So yeah, that's me. Will be quite sad to see the little "two" go, but i'm pretty excited about the z4, so that should take my mind off it with a bit of luck!

I made the move from an '04' MR2 'Red' to an '06' 2.0i in Sapphire Black about 6 months ago & haven't regretted it for a second!

2.0 has broadly similar performance & economy (38MPG currently) to the MR2 which is great for me (see many many 2.0 vs 2.5/3.0 threads on here lol) but 2.5 will feel significantly quicker (& sound great!). :driving:

Mine's an SE rather than Sport but handles superbly, not as frisky as the MR2 & feels a lot more secure, far more confidence-inspiring especially in the wet. I find the ride a lot firmer than the MR, but not uncomfortably so, not sure how much firmer the Sport would be again? Lots of threads about tyre swaps to non-runflat tyres if you chose to go this route anyhows...

Go for it, you won't regret it! :thumbsup: :thumbsup:
 
Thanks for all the welcome messages everyone!! Going for a test drive :driving: on monday, so we'll see how that goes - and then on to the bargaining with the dealer assuming all goes to plan... 8)
