Hi all,

Thanks for allowing me to join. It’s great to be here.
Just joined the forum as I’m hopefully buying a 2007, Z4 2.0L.

Any advice on what I should look out for.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. What sort of budget are you looking at? What are you using the Zed for.

All sorts out there from 2k scrappers to 40k minters

Hi and welcome.

Is there any particular reason you want a 2.0, like possibly insurance? I've only asked because the general consensus seems to be that the 6-cylinder ones (2.5 or 3.0) are more reliable - and having a straight 6 is one of the Z4s more unique features.

If there isn't a huge cost factor, I'd recommend trying a 2.0 and a 2.5/3.0 before you commit!

Anyway good luck with your search, and don't forget to post photos once you've found one.

Hi guys thanks for the replies. The main reason I’m going for the 2.0L version is because there’s one for sale in the same town that seems too good to pass up. Full service hitstory, long MOT, only 70k miles for £2800. I would have preferred the 2.5 or 3.0 and may upgrade in a few months.

Hi and welcome. Be prepared to travel a bit. Have a drive in a few, and look at the 6 cylinder models if you don’t have a reason not to. They are generally more reliable and easier to sell on.

Damn, just been to see the Z4 and pretty sure the head gaskets gone. Sludge around the oil filler cap. What sort of price should I negotiate and knock off to cover this. ?

Depends if it's been started and sat running, or very short journeys, this will give you mayo. If it's been properly driven, then its not so good.

Hi & Welcome
I live in Kent too, sounds like a typical short journey problem, this can block the breather which leads to smoke on start up, not an expensive fix, but not one I would want on a car I had just purchased, when you say the head gasket has gone??
