Newbie Alert!

Greetings All!

Just got this home last night after picking this 3.0i SE and driving it back in torrential rain. Been lurking and learning before taking the plunge.

Specs as follows:
95k full history (main dealer plus indy plus enthusiast). Last service 2k ago.
Heated mem-electric seats (non-m sport) πŸ™
Navigation package.
Cruise control.
Xenons.
PDC
Runflats πŸ™ - which is annoying as there are 2 x brand new Avons and 2 x almost new Pirellis but will take advice on this please, as to whether to change.
Beige interior which isn't the best but I'll have live with it. As the condition and spec is excellent I think.

Jobs
It passed the MoT but with advisories for front ball joints.
So would appreciate understanding if we're talking new wishbones or the ball joints and bushes can be replaced separately. I will of course be searching the forum as many people no doubt have had to sort this out.

Most urgent job though is the passenger seat recline adjust doesn't work. Nothing grom the motor at all. Will be tackling this one straightaway or at least when I've tidied the c*** in the garage so I can get the car in.

In summary I'm very, very pleased, but just don't ever ask how many owners it's had lol!

PS all the stuff I do that hasn't been covered previously I will record as I go and post to assist others.

Cheers, Andy.

Welcome to the forum and Z ownership. Lovely looking car. Hear what you say about the near new run flats. Most people agree that the driving experience is better on non run flats, they are quite heavy as well but understand the economics of buying new tyres when there is life left in the ones on the car. Agh, decisions.

Hi and welcome aboard Andy.

It looks like you have found a cracking example - let's hope you get to drive it on a dry day soon!

You have got yourself a nice looking Z4
It's also fitted with cruise control and cup holders πŸ‘πŸ»
You will really enjoy it when the summer arrives.

Learn the car on run flats then when you swap to non-run flats it’s a revelation!! :D

The trouble with them being nearly new is you’ll not get much at all if you sell them, so you may as well run them to get some miles out of them.

Someone else is probably more knowledgeable than me on this but I think with those wheels they should be the same size front and rear so you *could*, when the time comes, swap front to back to wear them out more evenly....

Thanks Guys for your welcome messages. So a quick update in the runflat situation, it would appear that it has Run flats on the front, (Pirelli P7) but non-run flat's on the back Avon ZV7's. Not sure about this and how it would affect the handling I know there is an overwhelming consensus to ditch the run flats but in addition is this an even worse scenario?? Cheers Guys.

I think the consensus on here is that it isn't a great combination.

Although the first Coupe I test drove turned out to have run-flats on the front and non run-flats on the rear bit it seemed to drive OK to me. I did do 5 or 6 miles in it unaccompanied so I did have a spirited drive! But not having driven one before I had nothing to compare it to.

If it seems to drive well as it is I'm not sure I would rush to change the fronts to be honest - Pirelli do seem to be one of the better run-flat options.
