I finally got rid of my E46 and bought myself a nice 3.0Si Roadster
I've had it for just over a week and it's already putting a massive smile on my face every time I drive her
I've got the Business H/U with the SatNav and upgraded disc, and I've been pleasantly surprised, especially after I navigated home from picking the car up right to my doorstep, whereas most navs still don't have us on the map
I'm missing a few little things, electric folding mirrors and the 6CD changer, but the mirrors aren't a huge worry and I'm likely to go the Intravee route at some point anyway, rendering the changer redundant.
With my E46 I did a fair few mods, not all of them successful. Turns out I'm not too great at DIY tasks. So, I don't want to do TOO much to this. There are a few things though ...
So, to my list:
- Mr Whippy. The aerial does look silly. How easy is it to change? Does it affect reception?
- Seats (leather, electric) are a little worn in places. There's a slight tear in the drivers side bolster and a few marks on the passenger side. Eventually I'll want to get them repaired, is it gonna cost the earth?
- Buzzing in the cabin. Obviously having a folding roof, it's going to be noisier than a tin-top. There's a rattle from the passenger side at the back though that's annoying me. I haven't yet had a poke around, but has anyone else had a common issue here?
In the same spot, the rear speaker is buzzy as hell - I only discovered this once I turned the bass back to normal. Now I understand why it was all the way down!! There may be something loose in that area which is causing both that and the buzzing though.
Other than that, I'm a very happy boy. Took a trip with my girlfriend up to Virginia Water on the weekend with the roof down - first time in the sun! It was a bit nippy but with the bum warmers on and the vents cranked up it was good fun
I love the little burble from the exhaust when pootling through town, and the noise when you open the throttle up ....
Hopefully this picture works:
