New Z4 owner - Tyre advice

Was put off the falkens after a neighbour of mine went through a set in under 8000 miles - mostly motorway cruising so he said (for what it's worth). He wasn't impressed at all though.

I'm surprised there aren't more of us on continental sport contact 3 or 5 - they get pretty good write-ups from some of the major motoring press IIRC. I've had CSC3 for a while and they've been pretty decent. Still reasonably road-noisy, but zero tram-lining and a smoother ride than rfts (but it'd be hard not to). Now just waiting to see how long they last...

If you're in Kent, I can give you the address of an Indy who will do a 4 wheel alignment for £80 - the track races M3''s

For tyres, look for Costco offers or again if you're in Kent check out a set of Vreds at Falkham tyres in Longfield, very competitively priced

Don't think there was a tracking issue - they were in good condition when I saw them, just worn down...

For everyone who's ditched the runflats, what do you do as an alternative? Just carry a can of that tyre weld stuff and hope for the best? Seems it's a no-brainer in terms of getting rid of the runflats for a set of decent tyres, but I'd be a bit worried about getting stuck somewhere with a puncture?

I bought a "conti mobility kit" on eBay. Has a compact compressor you can use any time, plus a bottle of (non tyre damaging) gunk it'll pump in should the worst happen. Never used the gunk, but the compressor seems good. Both parts fit quite nicely into the side pocket in the boot too do they don't rattle around.
 
I just joined the AA, at least they can get me home where I have a spare set of alloys
