New Z4! Cleaning tips?

Hi there,

I purchased an E86 last year, it had major engine issues, had some good advice on here about it. I was refunded for the E86 and I have been watching the market for a Z4 since.

I settled on a 2012 Z4 20i Msport.

It's a fantastic car, and didn't break on the way back from the dealers! (Like the E86!)

The car now needs its first wash, being white it's pretty filthy.

I was wondering what products are best.

The exhausts are sooty, soap and water isn't doing much...

I noticed a couple of small stone chips too, so any advice on how to remove these from the paintwork would be much appreciated.

The black trim around the windows looks a little tired also.
Can these be renovated?

I have a Karcher pressure washer, I'm presuming it's okay to use on these on a low setting?

Any advice is much appreciated!

Hi and welcome
Try Autoglym bumper and trim gel does a great job on the black plastic trim.
The pressure washer will be fine on low setting.

You've opened up a can of worms now, Deepseaskateboard  This can be simple, or gets increasing more complex (and expensive) as you move into the detailing world. Look at the following video regarding the two bucket method for the body, then clay, then polish, seal, and wax. There are a number of products on the market - I use a mix of GTechniq, Meguiars, Dodo etc

For trim - Aerospace 303 is great stuff
For rubber - Gummi Pfledge
For exhaust tips - autosol

Never put the roof down immediately after washing. You'll potentially end up with water in the boot from the roof seams. Leave it a few hours.
