ive also got some Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour to apply before fitting tyres etc, just wondered what else is worth doing before I get them fitted next week, worth while getting some fancy valves or anything like that?

also hoping to fit my stud conversion kit before fitting so will have new bolts etc so it doesn't look tatty

Weigh them.
Why?

ive had two sets that were lighter than oem bmw wheels bit o f a myth people saying reps weigh more. Only difference in weight should be if u used 18" and now 19"

this is good for working out weights, offsets, tyres etc

http://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?wheel1=255-35-18X8.5ET50&wheel2=255-35-18X9.5ET40&fcl=50mm&wcl=30mm&scl=50mm

Curiosity, I never said they would be heavier.

Whilst they are off and all clean without tyres it's very easy to weigh them so you know if you're interested.

ok mate I will later, only have normal scales so ill use them so not sure how accurate they will be but should give a good guide

Looking lovely Jingle.

If you've not used the C5 before, take your time and most importantly, make sure the wheels are prepped well, i:e clear of any coating they may have on them during shipping.

You'll get 12mths+ protection from the C5 if prepped and applied correctly. After that, a simple shampoo solution is all you'll need for cleaning them.

Get some pics up when they're fitted!!

yea I was wondering about the c5, will any of the snow foam or wheel cleaning stuff I use mess with the c5 or is it strong and durable enough to just pressure wash, snow foam and then wipe off?

for valves, if you want something different, go for these. Otherwise, metal ones (like these) look classier that standard rubber - Alpina do a version that is a lot more :)

Don't bother with the wheel cleaner - just some woolies, warm water and shampoo will clean them. The wheel cleaners could mess with the C5 depending on how long you leave it on for...

I applied C5 after I got my wheels refurbed a month ago and most muck simply comes off with snow foam and pressure wash rinse but to get a good finish still need to physically agitate. Cloth or woolly etc. No scrubbing though and comes away easily.

Very nice those Jamie , should look real swell on the white Z  what tyres have you gone for ?

well Machine Monkey has been kind enough to give me an old set he has with paint etc on which is perfect for me as I can get them fitted and have a week or so on them and get a good guide as to whether or not ill have any rubbing etc and don't waste a load of money buying the incorrect sizes. then once im happy with how much room is or isn't there I can decide what sizes I want accordingly.

hes sending me 225/35/19 fronts (im happy to stick with this size, potentially could go 235/35/19 but will see how much room there is)
and rears hes sending are slightly wrong but good enough for what I need, 255/35/19 (ideally I will go 255/30/19 but if theres enough room I might even go 265/30/19)

Glad you got sorted Jingle. Never got a reply to my email. They are really gonna change the car from your current 108's. I get really jealous when people get new wheels. I have issues  They look really smart, I must say!

Its like getting a new car when you change the wheels. Seriously considering a change from my CSL reps.

yea ill just demote 1 of my wash mitts to a wheel washing mitt :) ill just pressure wash gently then foam and quickly rinse and use wash mitt to clean and see how the C5 holds out :)

yea its been the biggest thing ive wanted to do since getting the car as its the most stand out thing imo, literally cant wait as its the mod ive been looking forward to the most since having the car! and that includes lowering it, getting aeros, fitting a rear //M and even getting the awesome quad conversion doesn't compare to new wheels :fuelfire:

Weigh them.

well this was surprising.......

fronts weighed 11.7Kg and 11.7Kg (19" ET35 8.5J)
rears weighed 11.1Kg and 11.2Kg (19" ET35 9.5J)

I have no idea why the smaller fronts weighed half Kg more????

got them all out in preparation last night in all there glory!

and set about cleaning them then treating them.... hope I done a good enough job, used most of the bottle so I hope so!
