New VReds

Put some new VRed Ultrac Sessantas on the car today, to replace the Conti's. Early days yet but what a positive difference. The front end feels much more direct. Off to Kent over the weekend, so will get several hundred miles to really feel the difference.

Interesting, may pull the trigger on some of these myself in the next couple of weeks. Let us know how you get on with them
 
Yeah def take a few hundred miles to scrub in.... Also i found them noisier due to the thread pattern... But are pretty awesome in the dry!

Ok well just back from Kent. Done about 600, roof down, miles over the week end and the New Tyres are bedded in nicely. Took a friend out for a brief play yesterday and the back end seems pretty similar to life on the Conties. Definitely getting better turn in at the front and the steering has weighted up just nicely, as the new sheen has worn off.

All in all I’m very happy to have made the change over. :thumbsup:
 
After 2 sets of rears and 1 set of fronts I'm going to buy something else, always said great things about these in the past with definite improvement in grip but the noise these make is starting to grate. Someone also told me they are a much heavier tyre than the competition. Lots of new tyres now too that have moved the game on.

I agree, my first set of rears were awful for a good few hundreds of miles.

Daz05, I find them pretty noisy too. I'm interested to know what you get instead, and if there is anything as grippy for the money. I've found the improvement over both Contis and Bridgestone particularly noticable in the wet, whilst dry grip is on a par.
 
Bugger, just ordered a set of these.
Just how noisey are they, compared to the Falken's I've been running for the last few years?
 
There's a guy I know on PH who recommended the latest Goodyear Eagle F1 A2s, he tests these back to back at various tracks and seems to know his stuff, going to try those I think. I'm also contemplating going back to stock widths to help with tramlining.

They are definitely noiser know they've worn down a bit.

Re - Falkens, noise is probably on par but I don't know a guy I know had these on his MC identicle to mine bar colour and it felt as if it rode stiffer. Must of been the tyres but you never know.

Fitted

Bought at my local tyre fitter in Saltash. Looked at buying them on line. Told them how much and they did it for less, without the hastle. Had to wait two weeks for them to get them from some where in Bristol, but totaly hastle free and I think a good price. They were after £16.50 a conner, to fit, if I bought on line.

Found exactly the same thing, the guy round the corner was within a few quid of the online guys and by the time you factor fitting it just wasn't worth the hassle.
 
My MR is on 19" Falkens atm, my first experience of them as I bought CSLs with them part worn & they're far less grippy than the 18" Vred's & a lot stiffer.

Been through about 4 sets of 18" Sessantas.. never thought noise was an issue and the wet weather grip has been astounding, plus they look cool :D

As daz says though they are quite old now so the game should have moved on although this seems to just mean the prices are just as reasonable.

I've got the latest Evo tyre review & I might price up some of the others for a change, but if there's more than £100 in it which I suspect there will be, I'll pull the trigger on a set of 19" Sessantas as I totally trust them :)
 
My vote goes with Goodyear F1 Asymetricals.They wear well and are great in the wet and dry with no issues with noise.I get more noise from my EBC turbo groove discs than the tyres.

I was interested in these too so quoted them up for 19" CSLs.

235/35/19s 265/30/19s

£690 for the Vreds
£890 for the Goodyears

Are they worth £200 extra? probs not. Getting my Vreds fitted in 3 weeks :thumbsup:
