New tyres instead of stock RFTs for E89 2.5i

Hi all,

Apologies if this is on the site, but I've had my E89 for a year now and have worn out the rear stock Brdgestone RFTs. I'm on 17" standard wheels and have read a few threads on the advantages of replacing with normal tyres. I can see there appears to be some debate over makes, with vreds appearing to be better value for money than MPSS. If I do replace my stock rears with non RFT, do I replace with the same tyre size or should I change them? Its probably in one of the threads but I havent found it yet...I'll keep looking but I'd rather some real experience rather than asking my local garage who will probably just suggest replacing with stock.

Your thoughts would be appreciated!

Just get the same size, I went for Dunlop Sportmaxx, very quiet, great wet weather grip and I also went for XL (extra load) which is a slightly stiffer side wall which means the tyre deflects less under cornoring and load (breaking & accelerating) which is relevant for powerful cars.

Everyone has their own opinions on tyre brand but as long as you go for a premium brand you will find them immensely better than RFT.
