Hi there! New to Z4-Forum.. (obvi). I'm Jordan, a young business woman [younger than you think ;)], pursuing Professional Writing & Blogging in category; Lifestyle.

I joined the forums because recently I have been in search of a Z4 and had a couple of questions to cancel my curiosity. Being out and about, I had stopped by the Ferrari dealership to look around (Father looking for a White 458 Spider, for the curious ones). When talking with owner of the dealership, his office had a vault inside which he had claimed there was a Red 308 and another car.

Mind you, I've been talking with this guy for a couple ours at this point, wondering around his office waiting for paperwork, he had given me access to the vault which had a pristine Black Z4 3.0si Roadster with beautiful Red interior. Needless to say it only had 11K miles on it, it looked brand new, I instantaneously fell in-love. Ever since I've been spending hours lusting forums in need of info and all that b.s.

I have a couple of questions for you Z4 enthusiast lovers!:

I believe in a more technical/'cool' way of saying: it's an E85 LCI or just E85?

Are they reliable for the generation of year I'm looking at?

Personally never owning a soft top convertible, are they rather hard to clean?

I'm very familiar with BMW of all old and new generations of models in general, so I'm not such the 'noob' in the category. :driving:

Thanks!

***EDIT*** I totally forgot to mention it was a 2007

Hi and welcome, in the UK we refer to them as face lift more than lci.

Rear springs and roof motors are the biggest issue, but probably won't affect you in the USA.

Just check the roof drains are clear.

The soft top itself is quite durable. For care of it, I give mine a yearly clean and protect with the Autoglym products. I also have a soft top cover that I put on if leaving the car in one place for too long. I don't remember seeing many issues with the actual soft top itself on the Forums, as srhutch says, just the motor can be a problem in more damp places than LA.

Sounds like a nice car, hope you enjoy it if you decide to purchase and welcome to the forums too :)

Buy buy buy Twinkle... as it's the more desirable facelift version.

With that kinda mileage, being stored inside & in LA, unlikely to have any issue with drains, more likely not to have been serviced very often. My 2005 has, touch wood, not had any issues with the roof motor, though I do clear the drains regularly & that was the model series that was more susceptible to motor failure.

Don't forget to post some picks, it's the law

I think I might just go ahead and do it. I mean.. what am I waiting for (even I can't answer that)? I was told that it was originally a lease. The owner drove it for only a year and traded towards some Ferrari and ever since was put into a covered, indoor storage. The dealership owner told me that he just recently had it fully inspected, cleaned, and everything was changed/replaced (all filters, gas, oil, spark plugs, a/c filters, drains, new battery, etc.) It has no signs of dents, except for one extremely unnoticeable scratch on the front bumper. Plus it has the beautiful 108's with the run-flats that have nearly 80% on left on them.

The interior is pretty 'immaculate' considering the age of the car (a couple creases, but who cares), and the miles. But then again, I feel as if all BMW's that were produced before 2009 in general; seats worn and loosened quickly.

**Pics** will be up asap once I get that car since it's the law. :P

The E85 and E86 models had a small facelift in 2006 and then in 2009+ the E89's were introduced.
