New (to me) Z4M owner

Introducing myself. I recently purchased a 2006 Z4M which was sold via Motorway by a member of this forum. I picked jt up from a dealer in the North East and it was delivered to me sight unseen on 23 December. I've only driven it for a mile so can't really give any first impressions just yet, other than that the engine isn't making any worrying noises... The car is a 2006 model in Black Sapphire with imola red seats. its on 89,000 miles, and the service book shows the right servicing. although there's not much paperwork to evidence other routine maintenance, it has definitely been cared for. Paintwork and interior are great thankfully. I will book it in for conrod bearings for peace of mind, and further down the road look at other maintenance issues. I don't have any photos yet, hopefully get some taken in the next couple of days. I am based in Northamptonshire and would be great to join any local meets. Also, any recommendations for an indie to do the conrod bearings please?

Hi and welcome to M ownership.

I bought mine 2 years ago and had an Inspection 2 done soon afterwards, then a few months later I got the rod bearing shells replaced at 78,000 miles because it had 7 previous keepers so I realised one or more of them may not have warmed it up fully before giving it some stick. When I saw the old shells they proved me right!

But I should have had both jobs done together instead of paying for two sumps of oil and oil filters. :headbang:

And when you get the shells done new engine mounts would probably be a good idea as the front subframe will be off anyway - I got mine replaced and the originals were well past their best.

I'm nowhere near you, but hopefully someone local can recommend a good Indy in your area.

Imola Red seats are great, but you really need to get it properly warmed up and enjoy some S54 engine magic up near the red-line!

Thanks for the welcome and advice. Chose the Z4M as having owned cars since 1987 I have never owned a BMW before and wanted to experience the full M feeling :D . Hoping I don't become the tail-gating idiot that is/was associated with the BMW badge (although it seems it's more of an Audi trait nowadays...maybe?). Anyhow, will load some pics soon hopefully.
