Hey ya'll.. just found this forum and decided to look in. I have a 2003 Z4 Titanium Silver 3.0L SMG that I bought new and have about 50k miles. Being it was the first model year, I have thick folder of all the warranty work that was done on the car... everything from the SMG ECU unit, to the sticky steering issue to the fuel pump to the ignition coils to the bowden cable failure. Even with all this, she's a great ride.

See ya's on the boards!

Hallatauer, if I am not mistaken was this the avatar or sig you used on Z4um...

ROFL!! I've forgotten that "old time hockey" photo... yep, it be me Citation, the atc guy. Howdy pvr, how ya been bud?
Still cruising around, autoXing racing and stuff. Just dropped a bunch of money into maintenance and repairs. All the fluids changed.. tranny, diffs, etc. Some under body panels replaced that got destroyed from cones I ran over racing. Trying to empty the gas tank so I can get the fuel filter replaced. Yup, the filter is in the gas tank... lots of under carriage parts to remove to get at it but it's a once in 6 years, 50k miles kinda thing.

My mechanic is great... let me take his 2002 M5 for a spin while he finished working on my ride. OMFG is that car scary fast.

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum...would be interested in the list of problems. Mine is a 2004 3.0i, just had the "sticky steering " issue taken care of.

Oh, where to start.... just off the top of my head.. good thing these were all done under warranty.

ECU for SMG tranny... replaced twice
Fuel Pump
Instrument Cluster
Sticky Steering
Ignition Coils

Also, I hate run flat tires. Good idea, poor execution.

Thanks for the list.

Under warranty:

Ignition coils replaced twice

Passenger window replaced

Documented twice under warranty for the "sticky steering", BMW said nothing wrong first time, second time tried to do an adjustment to the steering???
Returned Z after warranty was over (1 year later) and they replaced the steering column, no charge.

BTW, replaced orig RFT's with Michelin PS2 ZP's (also RFT's). Just want to say a much superior ride and handling, no more tramlining.

I dumped the RFT's for Goodyear Eagle F1's... a world of difference in handling and grip. My autoX times dropped by a whole 3 seconds with the switch.
