New to E85 ownership

After a long search, I have finally become a fully-fledged owner of an E85 and I couldn't be happier! I have spent nearly six months looking for "the one" and it ended up being a local purchase. I enquired on several cars that looked to meet my requirements only to find that key areas such as "Full Service History" had intervals of 5 years plus between services. The car I settled on in the end was a 2005 3.0i Manual in Sapphire Black with Red Leather interior. It started its pampered life as a demo car for Barons BMW, who put lots of extras onto the vehicle including the rather smart Alpina wheels. It then spent 18 years with the same owner before a collector bought it - and I've now taken the pledge to keep it in the same manner its been accustomed to. Its done just 39k miles at time of purchase - all backed up by the biggest file of receipts.

No doubt, once I get a few miles under my belt, I will have more questions but for now I'm happy just to enjoy it :)

Welcome to the forum. It looks like you've found a really great Z4 - it even has the Aero sills that sell on here for loads of money!

Wow - still learning about the E85 - didn’t even realise this - thank you for pointing this out 🙏

This is the great thing with these cars - you learn something new every day 8)

My nine year old son pulled down the storage compartment in the gap between the seats at the weekend where we found an original phone charging cradle along with a 6 cd - had no idea it had these!

That phone cradle means you have Bluetooth just incase you didn’t know.

None of the Aero parts have been available from BMW for years.

You could potentially become "JimmyVeryRichE85" if you sold them! I paid nearly a grand for my Aero sills in December 2020.

Given how it began life you've probably got some of the other desirable options like Bi-Xenon headlights, heated seats, upgraded stereo, rear parking sensors and maybe even M-Sport seats. You've probably bought a real gem.

I did know it had Bluetooth but electing not to use and be uninterrupted whilst enjoying the drive 😎

Now I am very impressed with your predictions- spot on bar the upgraded stereo- I think?! How do I spot it’s the upgraded version? I think the MFSW may have not been standard too? Do you also know what this weeks winning lottery numbers might be per chance 😜?!

If it has the upgraded stereo there won't be any storage cubbies behind the seats as there are extra speakers in them, and you're right MFSW wasn't standard - neither was cruise control.

Can't help with lottery numbers - with your luck I was relying on you for them.

Thank you again for the insight - I checked and found the cubbies so std stereo here for me - which actually sounds fairly decent to my untrained ear!

Alas - not much luck on the old lottery front - sorry!

Lovely example with some choice and rare parts as already listed. You should look in the meets section and get along to some forum runs- the national meet in the lakes is always a great weekend.

Thanks Paddy!

I have joined the BMW GB Car Club and see they have an annual event called "Sommerfest" which is just an hour away in Thruxton - has anyone been to this event in the past...?

First check, do you have big speakers behind the seats or storage bins?
Then lift the boot floor and see if there is an amp next to the battery.
