new tires make handling nervous

Hello to forum members,

My car is 2005 3.0i.
It has mechelin ps 2 tires.
I replace 2 rear tires with GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric and suddenly handling become nervous at highway speed.
Does anyone have the same experience?

I put Goodyear Eagles on all 4 sides ages ago... for the first 100 miles or so the handling was nervous, yes, after that it's fine. I imagine it will be amplified by not changing all 4 at once.
 
I know other people have said you will get that feel from having two seperate brand of tires on there. Also if they have different amount of tread wear then I could see it doing it as well.
 
I also use a complete set of F1's. I've been working at Goodyear for more than twenty years, and must say that using two different tread designs and specially different casing design and constructions, should always be avoided on performance cars. Michelin's and Goodyear's approach to tire engineering are quite different.

Just done pretty much the same thing.....stripped off continental backs and repalced with Michelin PS...and kept the front Continentals.....experience much the same as you....Resolved by swopping the fronts for Michelin PS ....Problem gone.....
 
Take a deep gulp and buy 2 more tyres. Above comments say it all. No need for any further additions to the message by me.

Only thing I would say is if the PS2's have some tread left you may be able to get a nominal amount back if you flog them on here or on ebay? Or at least you culd give them a good home, as PS2's seem pretty popular.
 
You guys perfectly right. I put 2 GY E F1s and the handling is coming back to normal.

The pilot is better handling tho. GY is more comfy.
